Your best self is your authentic self, that which you have been created to be. Understand this, your best self isn’t someone else’s self; rather, it is unique to you. It’s the best version of you. The version that gets things done, that embraces the moment and doesn’t live in the past; the version of you that you often dream about. You can be that person today!
It’s a brand-new year filled with amazing possibilities and opportunities. The question is, are you ready to do what you need to do to achieve all that you should this year?
I’m positive that some of us have goals and plans we have set for the year, and a proven way of reaching them is when you pursue them with authenticity, commitment, and vigor. Not a half-baked pursuit, but a wholehearted one.
Here are my tips for stepping into your best self this year:
- Know your purpose: Without purpose, it is impossible to be your authentic self. Your purpose is your life’s assignment. A clear understanding of your purpose puts you in pole position to set unique goals to help you on your journey. With a picture of your purpose consistently on your mind, you are reminded of what you must do in life. This leads you down a path of finding out what goals to set and how to apply yourself to achieve these goals.
- Be unapologetic about pursuing your purpose: Going after your purpose might require you to take some unconventional steps this year. When this happens, people are going to ask questions, but you cannot let them make you feel guilty or unsure about what you are doing. Remember, it’s important to remember that finding your purpose is a journey, not a destination. You might face challenges along the way, but don’t let them discourage you.
- Stay accountable on this journey: Doing this helps you stay on track and achieve your goals. When you hold yourself accountable, you are more likely to follow through on your commitments and take responsibility for your actions. An easy way to stay accountable is to find an accountability partner. This person keeps you in check and ensures that you follow through with tasks leading toward goal fulfillment.
- Check-in with yourself regularly: On this path to purpose fulfillment, you are not going to be perfect. This is why you must take responsibility for each action you take. When you check in with yourself, you can be honest about where you are on your journey. This will help you pinpoint your successes and mistakes so far. With this, you can learn from both sets of events to help you become better on your purpose-fulfillment journey this year.
- Remember, it’s a journey: I cannot emphasize enough how much you must understand that purpose fulfillment is not an end in itself. It is a journey, one you will travel on for as long as you exist on this plane. The crescendo is when you take your last breath, so you must keep striving to get better at what you do. Excellence is always on the next level, and that is where you should aim to be all the time.
